November Music Notes

Hello music students and families,
After 2 successful fall concerts things are full-speed ahead as we prepare for our winter concerts as well as band trips and music festivals in the spring.

Fundraising:
We have started out first of 2 coffee fundraisers this year with Global Coffee. Students received order forms today in class (more order forms can be found HERE and can sell 1 lb bags of ground or whole bean coffee for $17.50. $5 from every bag sold goes directly into the students fundraising account. Families can also choose to partcipate online by visiting http://www.globalcoffeefundraising.ca/gwmusic .
Order forms and money collected music be in to me no later then December 2nd and coffee will be available for pick up on Wednesday, Dec. 14th.

Grade 10-12 Band Trip
Our grade 10-12 students have been invited to perform and compete at MusicFest Canada, the national competition for high school bands. To be invited is a great honour and we are hoping to take a group of students to Niagara Falls to perform in May. Information about that trip can be found HERE. A non-refundable deposit and the permission form need to be returned to me by Nov. 30th. If you would like to pay online please let me know and I will have it added to your school account. Please do not contact the office about payment.

Sr. Jazz Performances:
Sr. Jazz Band has 2 upcoming performances they need to be ready for:

  • On Friday during last block we are doing our video recording of ‘Let it Snow’ for ChillTV. Students must be in uniform.
  • Tuesday, Nov 29th: Christmas Concert at Mt Slesse Middle School, be at the school by 6:30 pm in uniform.

Christmas Concerts:
Our Christmas Concerts on are December 13th (Jr. Concert Band, Sr. Wind Ensemble and Choir) and December 15th (Jr. Jazz Band, Sr. Jazz Band and String Orchestra). We hope to see you there.
