Festival Honours Concert
We want to showcase some of the most outstanding ensembles from the Graham music department on Tuesday, April 9th. All groups who earned GOLD in the Chilliwack Lions Music Festival (Band 8, 9, VOX, Sr. Jazz Band and Sr. Wind Ensemble). will be performing that evening. Concert starts at 7 pm in the theatre and students are expected to be at school no later then 6:30 pm, in uniform.
I would like to take a moment to congratulate 2 of our grade 12 students who recently auditioned and got accept into post-secondary music programs.
Liam S, has been accepted on Trumpet to the Jazz program at Capilano University!
Jackson H. has been accepted on Trombone to the Glenn Gould School of Music in Toronto as well as the Berkeley School of Music in Boston!
Both of these young men had to prepare audition material outside (outside of their regular class time) and perform in front of a panel from each respective school. They also completed theory and aural entrance exams. Congratulations again on these tremendous achievements!
BCMEA Honour Ensembles
Every year the top high school musicians are selected to perform as part of the BCMEA Provincial Honours group (Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Concert Choir and Vocal Jazz). We have had many students from Graham Music attend in previous years and would like to continue that trend. Audition material and information can be found at: http://www.bcmusiced.ca/honour-ensembles-audition-materials.html
All applications are due on Friday, April 12th. Please see me if you have any questions or would like help with any of the material!
